Worksheet 3

Story Structure, the slave and the lion
A) Option A is unrealistic and lacks the theme of realism as it would be inhuman to live with a Lion considering they will attack humans as the urge to eat meat to survive.  Which means the Lion would end up eating the Slave.  Also another reason is that a human cannot communicate with a human.

B) Again Option B is very unrealistic butthe equilibrium is shown in the story. This version lacks character motivation and development. Nothing in the story highlights that  the Master would have missed his Slave. Why would the slave return to his Master? And during the time period the relationship between Slaves and their apparent Owners would of not been ones of friendship but fear and control.

C) Option C leaves the audience feeling unconvinced and confused as a resolution does not happen., this version makes the audience question the rest of the narrative and why there is no resoloution. In addition, there is no moral conveyed in the story.

*        The main character is the Slave, we know this because the story is hooked around him and the Lion does not have as much importance in the narrative as the Slave does as a main character.

*
In the beginning of the story, The Slave is helpless and does not really have his own personality as he is used to being controlled by his master. The Slave enters the cave in search of food, thinking the Lion would eat him, helping the Lion the  Slave begins to develop.

*
The t goal through out the story is the mission for freedom as the slave wants to be free from his master, in addition, he wants to escape the Lions den

*
The story does feel finished as a the Lion and Slave start to get along, and in one sense they save eachother

*
By the end a moral is portrayed which is be kind to others and in return they will be kind back. In addition, a friendship is gained on behalf of the slave and the lion.
