How blind people get around
Me and my group knew it was essential to research how blind people move around and make do with their surroundings and day to day experiences. After looking at this short video we see from the blind persons point of view how he manages to get by and what sort of obstacles stand in his way-we wanted to make our film as realistic as possible, in doing this we knew we would either have to closely look at real blind peoples lives or question some- we know disabillity is a sensitive subject so we agreed it might of been easier to watch instead of putting the person on the spot and asking them how the do certain things. The video gives a clear example of 'one day in the life of a blind person' we specifically choose to use this clip as it is a clear resembeleence of our character kieran in terms of him going to school ect ect. we made good use of some things we picked up on in our film from the clip-we saw props such as a walking stick, unsteady walking pattern. we see at exactly (0.33 seconds) in to the clip someone comes over to help this is a CLEAR example of how we wanted to show kierans mother smothering him and feelling some sort of duty over him which he did not like. we learnt as we went along that blind people hate special treatment, they just want to be normal and seen as any other person in society.
Similar Blindness films
Ray is very similar to our film in many ways, the short taster clip begins showing the mother son bond, we see her cuddling him which shows the close knit relationship and love she has for him-we also see signs of heartbreak once they find out Ray is going to turn blind due to a rare condition. All of these factors helped us when we wanted to follow a specific film and all its aspects; Ray was the most suited of the bunch because we could easily follow the conventions plus adding more onto it.
The soft touching music also plays a HUGE part in reaching out to the audience and grabbing thier attention-the music is soft and soothing and really makes the audience feel some sort of passion/pitty for the main character. The trailer has alot of fades to black to hepl show passing time of=ver his life story aand from one event to another, we also incoorporated many fades to black, similarly to Ray we made sure our character wore sunglasses always to make sure the audience knew what was going on. Ray also has ghosting effects to show how the charcter is changing over time we did this and linked the changing of music from sorrowful to up-beat to make sure viewers can notice the storyline changing from how it was in the begining.
The moral of this film doesnt seem to follow the conventions of a noraml blindpersons life so we did not aim to work solely off of this short clip, we did in fact take some little tips such as using the grey wash over shots to show blindness from the audirnces point of view, also the fades to black come into playt alot with diegetic sounds. within the place where the blind people are being kept we see the use the wall to help guide them as they walk, from this we added more technique into how we wanted our actor to move psychically.

Paintings to reprseant heartbreak
Cleverly the artist has incorporated the classic game of noughts and crosses which highlight that the person in the wrong was playing games which then resulted in a loss as the heartbreak progressed.
A story could be created out of it by having a down to earth female loving the man but then the man goes behind her back seeing other women and sleeping with them also, these later results in the woman committing suicide as she is sick and tired of him playing games with her unconditional love and mind tricks.
-Death could play a part if the painting was filmed using cinematography, as he lies motionless he cannot bare the thought of his wife’s absence.
This painting could go towards representing the both halves of the relationship went their separate ways as they couldn’t get along together and it was best for the both of them.
-The film could allow the couple to find one another later on in life.

Casting process
We aimed our search to boys aged between 17-19, to fit the roll perfectly of our main protagonist ‘Kieran’. Again we wanted to make the film as realistic as possible. The add was proving to be very successful in a matter of hours; applicants started flooding in due to taking a keen interest to the different script and role; a handful of the applicants stated “it is very different and catches their attention”.
We later met up with him to go over the story boards and script, after the casting meeting we knew we had found a perfect fitting actor.
